End of October News

Greetings families! October at Congdon Creek Preschool was a busy one. I captured some fun moments from the month, so check 'em out:

Miss Patti brought out all her fun Halloween props this month, and the children have been in Halloween heaven playing with all of her stuff. Here's Liam, cute as can be:

And here's Quinn in the castle giving us his best "scary face":

And here's Lilly and Sophia dressed up in some costumes:

During the beginning of October, Miss MaryJo did a fun science experiment with corn. Everyone got to watch corn kernels turn into popcorn in an old-fashioned air popper (and by old fashioned I mean from the 1990s....but seriously the kids thought they were looking at an ancient artifact here):

And of course everyone has been enjoying our beautiful fall weather that we had in October:

Seriously. How cute is Kingston?

A couple of weeks ago, some of the children got to experience making apple sauce. Miss Jakki brought in a simple recipe that everyone put together in her ricer.

After everyone made the applesauce, we put it to the test to see if it was better than store-bought applesauce. Everyone did a taste test to see which one was best.

I'm not sure if this is just Leighton's "camera face", or if he just really didn't like the applesauce:

Kyler said he liked the homemade applesauce the best:

And to wrap this post up I will leave you with the applesauce recipe so you can make some at home with your preschooler!

8 medium apples
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 cup water
a drizzle of lemon juice

Peel and slice all of the apples. Combine ingredients in a rice-maker, press start, and let cook 20 minutes. (If you don't have a rice-maker, you can easiy use a crockpot on a low setting for about an hour).
