Cards for a Cause Fundraiser

Let me introduce you to the cutest fundraiser I've ever seen: Cards for a Cause. What this is, is a fundraiser for Congdon Creek Preschool where we are selling greeting cards. And let me tell you, these cards are adorable. Seriously. Every single one of them look homemade. And there are cards for every occasion. Check it out:

I know it's that time of year when cute elementary kids come knocking on your door asking you to buy candles, kitchen utensils, and extremely expensive tubs of cookie dough (which is amazing by the way); and you buy some because it's a.) hard to say "no" to kids and b.) you want to support the schools...but this fundraiser is different because not only is it cheap (only $1.00 per card), but it's extremely practical! Honestly, how many times have you been in a pinch where you needed a card, and bundling your kids up to take a trip to the store just sounded a little less than appealing? So we decided to sell greeting cards and here's what you can get: an all occasions box containing super cute thank you, birthday, sympathy, etc. cards; OR a kid's box that has all occasion cards too, except they're geared towards children AND you get some cute stickers for your kids.

Boxes cost $30.00 and contain 30 cards each. Congdon Creek Preschool gets to keep almost forty percent of the earnings, and the proceeds are going to go towards our Preschool (playground equipment, cots, etc.). You can make checks out to Congdon Creek Preschool and all orders will be due by October 5th.

End of September News

Hello Preschool Families! September is coming to an end quicker than it began and we've transitioned out of our "All About Me" theme and into "Family and Friends". This week we made friendships bracelettes to share with a friend, learned about different types of families, and we even made a warm blanket to share with someone in need at the Bethany Crisis Shelter.

Our Grandparent's Tea Party was a success. The preschoolers were adorable as usual, especially when they sang their songs on the stage. Some kids are natural stars (*Julia!), others were quite shy, but ALL of them were cute cute cute! It was fun meeting some of the Grandparents, and the children loved showing off their family members. I got to learn some fun grandparent facts from the preschoolers. One preschooler told me that her grandpa was 48 years old and could lift anything. Another preschooler told me his grandpa invented choo choo trains. Another preschooler told me that his grandpa has the most tools in the world and fixes everything. The ability to bake sweet treats was a common favorite trait that the children loved about their Grandmas, but one preschooler told me she loved her Grandma because she let her watch movies past her bedtime (don't worry...I won't tell who!).

Ashton had his V.I.P. day last week where the children got to ride bikes, decorate cookies, and learn all about our friend Ashton. Ashton's dad read the children a super awesome football book, and the kids got to give Ashton some birthday spankings.

We've begun talking about the letters W and X. We need more W and X pictures/words for our letter wall so please feel free to bring things in to share.

A big thanks to all who've volunteered to come in and help out with lunch time and those who've come in to read to the class. It's always wonderful having you!

And to end this post, here are two pictures I had that I thought were too cute not to share:

End of September News

Greetings Congdon Creek Preschool famlies! We've started off on another great school year and are back to being busy as usual. The past couple of weeks we've been focusing on the letters Y and Z. The preschoolers have been having fun finding things that begin with these letters and some even brought Y and Z things in for show-and-share. One preschooler brought in a giant sized zucchini. Another preschooler made a letter Z out of legos.

Eric Paulson was our V.I.P. this week. To celebrate Eric, the children got to paint pirate pictures and play hockey...not to mention have Eric's favorite treat of chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles!

Our theme during these past few weeks has been 'All About Me'. The children have loved looking at their baby outfits, and feel so proud at how much they've grown since being in diapers. The children even asked Miss Renee if she was ever once a baby, and found it hysterical when she replied with a "yes". We've begun discussing the theme of 'Family and Friends' this week. The children made family trees in which they glued pictures of people from magazines onto tree trunks to represent their families. It was cute to see how the preschoolers portrayed their families. One group of boys thought that all dad pictures had to be men with mustaches.

Monday is the Grandparents Tea Party and everybody is looking forward to the party. When we asked the preschoolers what they wanted to serve at the party, there was a unanimous vote to have cupcakes, cookies, and birthday cake. Although we won't be indulging in copious amounts of sugar-induced carbs, we will enjoy goodies with our families and have a nice time.

Just a reminder that we've posted a sign up sheet in the sign-in center for parents, relatives, and friends to come in and read to the children. Sign up for a slot and bring your or your child's favorite book to share! And please remember, you are always welcome to stop on by!
