Week of March 23rd

Hello All!!

What an exciting start to spring! We've been loving the beautiful weather here at CCP! Preschoolers (and their teachers) truly cherish the "warmer" Duluth days after that cold winter!!

This week we've had a blast digging into our fairytale unit. The children learned a new word: Fiction. We've been looking at things that are real or true vs. things that are not. We've been doing extra reading around here, so if you have a favorite fairytale, we'd love to have you come read it to the kids!!

Some quick reminders: We will continue to wear snow pants outside as long as the ground is muddy. You can imagine some of the distress we endure over wet pants; so please keep the snow pants comin'! Same with extra socks/pants/etc. Also, Easter is quickly approaching, so don't forget that CCP is closed Friday the 3rd and Monday the 6th of April.

Warmest regards,

Ms. Jakki

March News

Hey there!

March is here, and the kids are loving our Dr. Seuss unit! It was nice to end February, "I Love to Read Month", by diving into more books! We have been working a lot on our literacy skills by practicing phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and doing some kid writing (i.e. upper case letters). We've also learned that the pictures in a book can help the reader read the words on the page, and I've even seen some preschoolers decoding some books on their own (Seriously, your kids are awesome). Here's a picture of some of them diving into a book:

We've also been having fun with our Dr. Seuss unit by doing a lot of fun crafts, games, and we even got to sample some green eggs and ham! Check it out!:

Conference sign-ups are going up this week, so watch for those at the sign-in table. Also, a registration form for next year was sent home last week. Please get your schedules in for next year ASAP as we will begin enrollment soon. And one more thing: registration for summer camp is being sent home this week. You can return the forms at any time, but teachers can collect them at conferences for your convenience.

Thanks everyone and enjoy the last bit of winter (<-hopefully!!),

Mrs. Jakki
